Panicked concertgoers caused a stampede at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Friday night as fears of a shooting spread through the crowd, witnesses said.
Atlanta-based rapper Future had just finished performing when a loud sound reverberated through the arena.
The noise sparked pandemonium as people rushed down escalators and streamed out the exits of the Prospect Heights venue.
XXL reported that several shots were fired while authorities and the center denied the allegations. it was later made official that no gunshots were fired however barclays management called paramedics and police for backup. However, concert goers are still convinced they heard gunshots despite everything official said. Later that night the Freeband gang CEO was partying at the Space Ibiza in New York for a private club appearance.
‘The first three of what would be about seven gunshots were fired at around 10:45 p.m. Once people outside of the Barclays Center realized shots were being fired they began yelling, while several others stood in apparent confusion. After a brief pause, four more shots rang out, and suddenly, a stampede of bystanders began running and ducking for safety.’ XXL Stated
“Deadass, turned around and saw 500 people sprinting from Barclays Center after we were outside…never ran so fast in my entire life,” attendee Danny wrote on Twitter.
NYPD and FDNY officials said there were no reports of gunfire and no injuries reported.
Scores of concertgoers took to social media to vent their frustration after the chaotic scene unfolded.
“Bro. A literal stampede just happened in Barclays,” David Amaya wrote.
Barclays Center officials sought to ease frayed nerves on social media.
“There were no gunshots tonight inside the arena. A loud noise during load out caused concern while fans exited the venue. Get home safely,” the arena tweeted.
“u gotta live in the moment,No Regrets. Enjoy,” Future later posted on his Twitter account.
The 33-year-old rapper is slated to perform in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday.
