Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand Pledge $100 Million To Fight Social Injustice

Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand have pledged $100,000,000 USD over the next decade in support of black communities. Following in the footsteps of Nike, Inc’s $40,000,000 USD donation — split between the Swoosh, the Jumpman, and Converse — Jordan’s funds will go to organizations that ensure racial equality and social justice as well as help provide greater access to education for underprivileged children.

The President of Jordan Brand, Craig Williams, said in an statement:



“Through our Jordan Wings Program, we have been focused on providing access to education, mentorship and opportunity for Black youth facing the obstacles of systemic racism. But we know we can do more. In addition to the investment from NIKE Inc., we are announcing a joint commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand to donate $100 million over the next 10 years. We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together. There is still more work for us to do to drive real impact for the Black community. We embrace the responsibility.”

Yung Lean to Donate All Streaming Royalties and Merch Profits to BLM

After dropping his fourth studio album Starz in May, Swedish cloud rap pioneer Yung Lean has announced that he’ll be donating all his streaming royalties and merchandise profits to #BlackLivesMatter and bailout funds for the foreseeable future.

In a multi-slide Instagram post teeming with emotion, the rapper born Jonatan Leandoer Håstad acknowledged that as a child growing up in Stockholm, Sweden, all his “heroes were Black American musicians.” He then goes on to directly state his disgust for racism and acknowledge his white privilege, quipping “I’m disgusted by any person who looks like me who thinks anyone with a different skin color’s life is worth less,” and “I know my [white] privilege, and anyone who has privilege should use it to help others who don’t.”



Lean then pleads for his followers to join in the fight against inequality, and ends his statement by saying that all his merch and stream royalties will be donated to social justice-centric causes for “the foreseeable future.”

Stüssy Stands Firm Against Systemic Racism With Special Release

Joining numerous brands in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Stüssy has now put together its stand against systemic racism. Noting that now is the time for action, the End Racism T-Shirt is a call for people to stand firm against the injustice that plagues the United States and the world.



Available in black and white, the special release is centered around Stüssy signature handstyle and features “STAND FIRM” printed on the front, while “END RACISM NOW!!” marks the rear. 100 percent of all profits generated from the sale of the T-shirt will be split evenly between Black Lives Matter and the Equal Justice Initiative.
