In the neat infographic down below, MRBLD suggested that the next Supreme x COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT drop would take its aesthetic cues from COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT’s 2010 spring/summer campaign.
The campaign who glitched on Supreme official website a week ago is rumored to feature the work of conceptual artist Stephen J Shanabrook, who lent his “Paper Surgery” series that has him compared to a Contemporary Picasso.
As you can see in the mock-up above, MRBLD suggest that the next collaboration those particular photo tees but the future classic box logo proposed by the brand. However it hasn’t yet been confirmed the alleged collaboration is getting more and more clout on social media with brand new designs that has the supreme sphere shaking for a release date.
While Supreme is unlikely to comment on the image’s authenticity, if we are to go ahead and believe this is really is a sneaky snap from inside the brand’s gilded doors, then perhaps MRBLD’s “Supreme divination” is true?
If you inspect the image closely, you can clearly see the Supreme box logo in all its crimped and creased glory, lending some truth to these unsubstantiated claims. If we briefly examine the trajectory of Supreme x COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT so far, where the last collaboration from Fall/Winter 2015 referenced CDG’s iconic use of plaid (a quintessential motif within CDG’s sartorial legacy), then mining the Japanese brand’s distinctive campaign imagery for inspo is a logical next move, no?
